Established in 1934, the ESB Group trains managers for the various fields of the wood industry. It offers a wide range of courses in the field of wood science and technology. This Engineering school specialised in Wood Science and Technology, is a non-profit institute under the supervision of the French Ministry of Agriculture and Higher Education. The aim of research at the Ecole Supérieure du Bois is to conduct high-quality research that supports and enhances the competitiveness of the wood sector and the education and training programmes ESB offers. The unit involved in this project is the wood material and composite unit (LMCB), the research mission is the following : How to improve performance and regularity of lignocellulosic materials by understanding the interactions between their constituents and their immediate environment.

Dr. Jérôme Moreau
Dr. Jérôme Moreau a Lecturer in forest management, tree quality estimation and wood science. His research interests include relationship between silvicultural practices and wood properties, timber assessment and allocation to evaluate standing and felled trees and wood supply chain optimization.
Dr. Mark Irle
Dr. Mark Irle has a PhD in Wood Science from the University of Wales, Bangor. His research interests cover all wood-based composites and their dimensional stability in particular.
